Our History |
New Harvest Family Worship Center is a vision of God given to Pastor Melissa Johnson early in her ministry. After 20 years of serving God faithfully, Pastor Melissa and her husband, Brother Anthony, activated their faith and brought the vision to fruition. The New Harvest Family Worship Center was formed and held their first service at the Jefferson Center in the Downtown Roanoke, Virginia area on Sunday, June 3, 2012, with 16 members. Due to increasing growth throughout the years, in June of 2015, New Harvest purchased a building at 823 Whitney Avenue in Roanoke, Virginia. After much prayer and extensive interior and exterior renovations, on April 9, 2016, the congregation eagerly entered the sanctuary for a service dedicating the new edifice. The Spirit of God demonstrated His eminent power and presence in that gathering! God’s presence and favor have graced New Harvest and Pastor Melissa to accomplish many outstanding acts of kindness and transformative blessings locally and internationally. During the ten years of doing the Will of God, New Harvest has impacted the community and abroad through Outreach, Missions, and Evangelism. This ministry has visited the sick and shut-in, hospitals and nursing homes, as well as providing goods and services to surrounding areas through its Healing A Generation and Heart of the Harvest ministries. In August of 2018, Healing A Generation hosted a 3-day Community Health and Wellness Expo. This event ended with a benefit concert that raised proceeds for the Blue Ridge Women’s Center of Roanoke, Virginia. New Harvest’s generosity not only blesses close vicinities but reaches out to nations by supporting missions in Zimbabwe and other pastors and churches in many states. This ministry’s divine mission is to show the love of God through gifts, time, talents, and resources. During these ten years, New Harvest has lived up to its commitment to showing God’s love by implementing internal ministries established for growth and discipleship of Jesus Christ at all levels and ages. This infrastructure includes Women’s Conferences; Men’s Conferences; 2 R 1 Marriage Enrichment; City-wide Youth Conferences; Revivals; and life-changing Bible teaching. The ultimate goal is to transform Christians into individuals who are spiritually equipped and inspired to take the Gospel from private to public, thus faithfully building the Kingdom of God!
